What Does the “High” Feel Like?

The combination of mental and physical impairment produces a “spacey” or “light-headed” feeling that marijuana users find pleasurable. This “high” manifests within seconds of inhalation, or within minutes of ingestion. It it more intense when smoked, but lasts longer when ingested.
How Long Does It Last?
Inhalation of Cannabis produces recognizable effects for up to four hours following delivery into the body. Experienced users develop a tolerance for the effects of THC, and may become unaware of their impairment within as few as forty minutes after their last dose. Though the acute “high” may have worn off in this time, impairment of body function does not.
How Long Does Marijuana Stay In Your System?
THC is lipophilic, which means that it is stored in the body’s fatty tissue. A single dose can store THC in the brain for over a week. Under stress or exertion, it can be released from these fatty cells, causing unexpected impairment. THC can be detected in the blood or urine for days, sometimes weeks, depending on the dose. Tests of hair follicles can reveal marijuana use that occurred months or even years prior.
